Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of capturing the essence of North Dakota's lignite industry through a series of photographs along side mini documentaries. This project has been a labor of love, as I have been fascinated by the human side of this industry, sharing the perspectives of those who live and breathe lignite every day.

Through my lens, I have documented the hardworking men and women who keep this industry moving, from the miners deep beneath the earth's surface to the power plant workers who keep the lights on. From the towering draglines to the vast open pit mines, I have captured the scale and scope of this industry, as well as the environmental measures taken to ensure responsible lignite mining. 

 

As someone who grew up in North Dakota with family in the industry, I am proud to have had the opportunity to document this important aspect of our state's history and culture.
